Bad things shouldn’t surprise us because we live in a sinful, fallen world. What good things should you be more grateful to God for? How does this perspective give us hope to faithfully follow Jesus right now?

Jesus prepares us for eternity and gives us the perspective we need through his Word. How can you improve the quantity and quality of the time you spend in God’s Word? Alone? With your family? With other Christians? At church?

In the new heaven and new earth there will be a new normal where we will dwell with Jesus and there will be no more suffering. How does this perspective give you hope right now to faithfully follow Jesus? How does this perspective change your attitude toward life in the old normal? How have you misplaced your hope for the future?

Jesus promises to eternally satisfy all of our deepest longings in him. What idols are you tempted to turn to for satisfaction? How does the promise that Jesus will eternally satisfy our deepest longings give you hope to faithfully follow Jesus right now?

By faith in Jesus we are adopted by God as his sons. How does the promise that we will inherit the kingdom of God give you hope? How does this promise change how you view your money and possessions? 

The one who conquers by faith in Jesus Christ will inherit eternal life in the new heaven and new earth, but faithless cowards will be judged. What are some ways that you are tempted to be cowardly? How does the person and work of Jesus Christ give you the hope you need to be a conqueror instead of a coward?
